As a personal review, I love how this mascara makes my lashes feel! It’s not heavy, but it definitely defines each lash to its full extent. Also! Ever feel like your lashes are itchy or irritated at the base after wearing mascara for hours? I do! And fortunately I don’t have any of that after wearing this one… such a relief!

* Stearic Acid – Fatty acids that occur naturally in some foods. Non carcinogenic, with no adverse effects observed in studies. Used in cosmetic creams, cakes, soaps and pastes.

* Copemicia – brazilian palm wax

* Ceriferacera/copemicia cerifera (Carnauba) Wax* – brazilian palm wax

* Castor Isostearate Beeswax Succinate – A castor oil and beeswax derived natural polymer that is created solely with heat and vacuum. No chemicals are used in the process. It increases wear time and enhances texture

* Glyceryl Stearate – made from reacting glycerin with stearic acid, which are obtained from animal and vegetable fats and oils

* Glyceryl caprylate – monoglycerides that are usually made from fatty acids. Some of these fatty acids come from vegetable oils, such as sunflower oil. Primarily used in the formulation of creams and lotions, moisturizers, and other skin care products. Found in permanent waves, deodorants, bath soaps, eye makeup and foundations. Can cause some redness of the skin from concentrated amounts, but not deemed harmful.

* Glycerine

* Potassium Sorbate – Sorbic Acid is a white, free-flowing crystalline powered. Used in personal products to kill microorganisms, and to prevent spoilage in personal care products.

* Sodium Hydroxide – Known as Sodium Hydroxide, Calcium Hydroxide, Magnesium Hydroxide or Potassium Hydroxide. Historically used to hydrolyze fats and form soaps. Also known as caustic soda, soda lye or sodium hydrate. Deemed safe in limited quantities by the FDA, but is a strong irritant to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract in concentrated quantities. Also is not meant to be ingested. The FDA has specific quantity specifications for each kind of product. Used to control the ph of cosmetic and personal care products. Used in the formulation of bath products, cleansing products, fragrances, foot powders, hair dyes and colors, makeup, nail products, personal cleanliness products, shampoos, shaving products, depilatories, skin care products, and suntan products, also used in hair straighteners and hair wave sets.

* Sodium Benzoate – Benzoic acid and Benzyl alcohol is found naturally in many foods such as apricots, cranberries, mushrooms and honey, as well as the essential oil of jasmine, hyacinth and ylang-ylang. Used as: a corrosion inhibitor, fragrance ingredient, ph adjuster, preservative and solvent.

* Xanthan Gum – made from the fermentation of carbohydrates such as glucose or corn syrup. Used for: binding, emulsion stabilization, skin-conditioning agent, surfactant emulsifying agent, viscosity increasing agent. Deemed safe by the FDA

* Cellulose – naturally occurring found in the cell walls of plants. Deemed safe by the FDA, and is on the list of additives allowed to be directly added to food. Shown to be non toxic to humans. Used in cosmetics and personal care products including bath products, hair products, eye and facial makeup, skin care products and shaving products.

* Tocopherol – Vitamin E, naturally occurring antioxidant. Derived from vegetable oil. Used in the formulation of lipstick, eye shadow, blushers, face powders and foundations, moisturizers, skin care products, bath soaps and detergents, hair conditioners, and many other products. No adverse effects detected.

* Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed oil – Taken from the seeds of the sunflower, has more vitamin E than any other vegetable oil. Used as a skin conditioning agent, surfactant and viscosity increasing agent.

* +/- C177891/Titanium Dioxide, – Naturally occurring mineral mined from the earth then purified to use in consumer products. Titanium Dioxide is used as an opacifying agent and a colorant. In OTC drug products, it is used as a sunscreen agent. Also FDA approved as a food additive.

* +/- C177491,C177499/Iron Oxides – naturally occurring mineral deposits. However, iron oxides used as pigments in many cosmetics and personal products are often synthetic because natural minerals can carry trace amounts of heavy metals.

* Fiber: NYLON-66 FIBER 20D is an odorless white to yellow fibrous powder of uniform length, free of foreign matter. * Lead Compounds: surprisingly heavy metals such as lead is still allowed in cosmetics, although regulated. However, there is no “safe” level of lead. * Phenoxyethanol: It is commonly used in skincare and makeup products with side effects like skin irritations, reproductive and developmental complications, and damages to the brain and nervous system. Japan has banned the use of phenoxyethanol in all cosmetics, while most other countries have limited the use of it to 1% concentration. Can cause allergy like Eczema and may have nervous systems effects on infants. Found in: perfumes and soaps.

* Phthalates (DBP, DEHP, DEP and others): a class of plasticizing chemicals used to make products more pliable or to make fragrances stick to skin. Phthalates disrupt the endocrine system and has been found to cause birth defects and impact reproductive systems. Found in: synthetic fragrance, nail polish, hairspray, and plastic materials.

* Polyethylene glycol (PEG compounds): PEGs are widely used in cosmetics as thickeners, solvents, softeners, and moisture-carriers. Depending on manufacturing processes, PEGs may be contaminated with measurable amounts of ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane, which are both carcinogens. Found in: creams, sunscreen, shampoo.
